Empowerment
means teaching people skills they can use to take charge of their own
lives rather than bailing them out of recurring problems. Ask yourself,
"Is what I am doing to help this person serving him or her to become
more self-sufficient and independent, or is simply a stop-gap measure
that changes nothing?" Only take action if it is for the first reason.
